"Lubię Moby'ego i co mi zrobicie". Dlatego posłucham tej płyty jeszcze nie raz i to z prawdziwą przyjemnością. To samo polecam innym. Ale na dreszcz emocji przebiegający po plecach nie liczcie. "Play" lub "18" to nie jest...... więcej »

"Hotel" Moby'ego nie jest lokalem, gdzie w każdym pokoju toczy się impreza. To raczej miejsce, do którego można uciec, by odpocząć od zgiełku i posłuchać ładnych, nieco nostalgicznych melodii.... więcej »

Hotel is hardly the full gamut of messy miasma then, for there's nothing in the way of anger, euphoria, anxiety, terror or indeed edginess. The record ends up as a whole representing, if anything, hotel rooms being cleaned during the day and slept in at night. Being the man in the middle isn't working for Moby; overdosing on moderatism, the guy who supposedly gave electronica a face is ironically now a blank manufacturer of rock-by-numbers. Whether seduced by chart flirtations or weary of constant mockery, Moby has filed away his distinguishing characteristics, and all that's left is an artist too played out to even be one of Eminem's punchlines.... więcej »

In trying to avoid the use of the word "melancholy" in this review, I have failed horribly -- but no other word or phrase better describes Hotel. It is a good disc, but dominated by the kind of obsessively sad songwriting that can make even the best album a hard slog for the undepressed.... więcej »

The slower stuff vagues out, and the bonus disc of ambient instrumentals ought to come with a controlled substance, but elegant relationship songs such as the torchy "Forever" suggest this talented softy has found a sensible way to come down from a multi-platinum high.... więcej »

So, is "Hotel" worth buying? The answer is not really, unless you get the two disc version. This version of the album comes with a bonus ambient disc. The material on this disc is among some of the best stuff Moby has ever created. To be honest, this disc should have been the main album, with the current album being the bonus disc.... więcej »

More than ever, the focus here is on Moby as a singer and songwriter, which is strange, because he is not very good at either job. In his effort to leave generic constraints behind, he has drifted toward some rather neutral variant of alternative-rock.... więcej »

The best moments are those where Moby tries hard to sound like Berlin-era Bowie - notably Raining Again (although the ode to Bowie, Spiders, is a letdown) - and the trilogy of slower tracks that brings Hotel to a close.... więcej »
